CK ZAMEK (Poznań) | Foresight for Cultural Institutions
Challenge
How to help representatives of Poznań’s cultural institutions regain strategic agency in a volatile environment – by expanding their imagination beyond “business as usual”, learning to read early signals of change, and translating uncertainty into practical reflection on risks, opportunities, and organisational resilience.
Approach
A full-day, highly participatory workshop combining developing a futures mindset with hands-on foresight tools:
- Opening game with “mini-scenarios & dilemmas” to unlock imagination and diversify perspectives.
- Introduction to foresight, followed by a group exercise “Uncertainties 2035“.
- Practical module on trends, drivers and weak signals, then Futures Wheel consequence / implications mapping (1st/2nd/3rd order impacts; opportunities vs risks).
- Scenario-building sprint (2035): “world configuration” using curated envelopes (signals + uncertainty “hypotheses”), narrative development through a day-in-the-life persona, and team presentations.
Outcome
Participants left with a shared language and toolkit for future-facing thinking inside cultural organisations, plus tangible workshop artefacts: mapped uncertainties, Futures Wheels, and team-built scenario worlds with identified opportunities, risks, and strategic tensions relevant for institutional resilience.
